Latex Mattress Guide
If you haven’t heard about latex mattresses then you are probably not alone. In fact, these interesting new mattresses are said to be the latest and greatest insofar as sleeping technology is concerned. Latex mattresses are showing up at trade shows around the country, and many people are wondering if this is going to be as large as the memory foam revolution was a few years ago.
What are Latex Mattresses?
One of the reasons that latex mattresses are being labelled as the perfect sleeping pads are become of the thick, quality core of the mattress that will last for many years. That’s because these cores are usually about six inches thick and they have pincore holes running through them that allow the latex to be even more comfortable. There are different grades of cores and the way that the mattresses are made either soft or firm is that these holes in the core are different sizes, the larger that the holes are the softer that the latex mattresses will be.
This core is topped with a softer pad much like the springs in an innerspring mattress are topped off with a fabric cover. Most of the time this cover is made up from significantly softer latex, but there are some that are made with a foam memory pad. Either way the latex mattresses are known as being very comfortable, with far more support than those that are made from pure memory foam as they have a more durable core.
Organic versus Synthetic Latex Mattresses
Much of the conversation where latex mattresses are concerned revolves around the difference between organic and synthetic mattresses. You may have thought that all latex was synthetic, but the truth is that latex was originally manufactured from the sap of rubber trees; however, during the years of World War II real rubber sap was at such a premium that scientists had to work to create a synthetic.
While many claim that there is no real difference between synthetic or organic latex, but there are some consumers that disagree. That is why latex mattresses are offered in one hundred percent pure organic latex, but these can be a lot more expensive than traditional latex mattresses, which are often made from a combination of organic and synthetic materials. While there is no indication that the origination factor of the latex will affect the quality of the mattress, some people just prefer the idea of sleeping on an all-natural product.
Are Latex Mattresses the Future?
With the buzz surrounding latex mattresses it could be that these are the next thing in sleeping arrangements. Since they are relatively new to the market you may find it difficult to find some place that will sell latex mattresses in your area. As their popularity continues to grow, however, you will find latex mattresses showing up in more and more stores. Likewise, the longer that these mattresses are on the market, the more that they are going to come down in price and the more readily they will be accessible by the public.
So if you are considering finding yourself a new mattress sometime in the future, you should consider latex. After all, they manage to combine the softness and luxury of a memory foam mattress while at the same time relying on their cores to provide the support of a more traditional inner-spring mattress. This combination is sure to help you sleep better and wake up more refreshed, plus latex mattresses are said to last longer than most traditional mattresses, giving you more for your money.
