Dual Waterbed Mattress

Waterbeds have huge benefits in terms of being kinder to joints and relieving pressure on spines, and they have been a popular choice for comfortable sleeping for decades. Despite the health benefits however, many couples find that sleeping on one waterbed mattress can be uncomfortable and the motion caused by the waves when a sleeping partner turns over is irritating and annoying. For this reason, a dual waterbed mattress may be an option worth considering.

Waves created by someone turning over in bed can take quite some time to subside and as the mattress is one large unit both sides of the mattress are affected at the same time. Many partners also squabble over what temperature to have the water at, especially if one prefers a cool mattress and the other prefers it warmer. Many people also find that there is a discrepancy between how firm each partner likes their bed, and with a water bed mattress there is no scope for adjusting the firmness or the temperature of the water on one side of the bed only. There are several solutions that can be used to minimize these inconveniences and make sleeping on a water bed with a partner more comfortable.

Waveless technology

There are several new types of mattresses on the market which combine the best of water technology with traditional mattresses. They have pockets of both air and water which alternate in the structure of the mattress and make it more solid and rigid. This means that the wave motion is lessened considerably and the mattress is more comfortable when two people are sleeping on it at the same time. Although traditional waterbed mattresses are structured in layers, there is also another sort of waterbed mattress which has layers of foam on top of the water which helps eliminate some of the problems of wave motion. It also makes the mattress feel less like a water bed, which means that for real fans of water bed technology, it is not a true solution to the problems of sleeping with a partner on a water filled mattress.

Dual mattresses

Dual waterbed mattresses are the other alternative when two people want to sleep on the same water bed together. A dual waterbed mattress is just two smaller water bed mattresses put together. Each mattress functions independently, and on each side of the bed the person can regulate the temperature to his or her own personal preference. Mattresses can also be filled to different levels, meaning that if one partner prefers a firmer mattress and another prefers it softer, then these preferences can be accommodated to fill to different levels. The main benefit, however is that motion in one mattress when someone turns over in their sleep is not transferred into the other mattress, meaning both partners get a good night’s undisturbed sleep. Also, as the two mattresses are covered separately, it makes cleaning and maintenance of the mattresses easier, and if one side of the mattress leaks or gets punctured the whole bed is not affected.
