Tips on Buying a Comforter for your Bed
Comforters are currently one of the most commonly bought bed linen products around, and for good reason. They add another color or pattern to a bedroom and provide warmth as well. So that you can be confident you are buying the best comforters; here are a few tips.
Comforter filling
Usually, comforter sets are filled with polyester batting. For even distribution and to ensure the filling remains in the comforter, quilting or stitching patterns are used on the outside. The capability to insulate and also the size of the comforter are determined by the "loft" of the filling.
Size
A comforter collection may consist of several different sizes of bed comforters you can buy. Some of the best bedding comforters will be made specifically for the various sizes of beds on the market, although some manufacturers that sell cheap comforters may only have one or two set sizes such as king or queen. Measuring the size of your bed before you buy a comforter will help you select the most ideal comforter set.

Versatility and variety
Although many comforters will be made out of the same material on both sides, some will have different fabrics. This allows the buyer to use the comforter if they change the decor and during winter and summer months, by simply reversing the bed comforter.
Detailing
Many designs make use of buttons, fringes, welting, ruffles and contrasting borders to create different styles of comforters. As you might imagine, this means there are plenty of designs to choose from, although make sure that you're aware of any buttons and ties that are at the top of the bedding comforter if you plan on using it as a blanket whilst you sleep. This will ensure you don't wake up with scratches or indents on your face in the morning!
Number of threads
The thread count of the comforter indicates the number of threads that are used to weave per square inch of the comforter. The higher the thread count, the softer the comforter and more pleasant and luxurious it is to touch. The more expensive and higher quality comforters will have upwards of 250 threads, whereas some of the cheaper muslins will usually have a thread count in the 100's.
Whilst shopping for a comforter, bear in mind these tips to ensure that you buy the best available. Down comforters as well as other types of this bedding are excellent investments so taking a bit of time to buy one that is going to last and provide the comfort, warmth and style you want is certainly worth it.
