Selecting the Right Mattress Size

There are a number of factors that determine the right mattress for your bedroom. The comfort level, the price and the size should all be a part of the decision process when you are choosing a bed. While smaller sizes are lower in price, they may not be able to offer you the comfort that you need, particularly when you consider a partner. A bed that is too large may overwhelm a small bedroom and not be appropriate, as well.

To choose the correct mattress sizes and bed, measure the room very carefully. Determine the placement of the bed and mattress and evaluate how the rest of your furnishings will fit in the bed. The bed that you choose should allow you to fit your other furnishings in the room comfortably, such as the bureau and dresser. It can be helpful to mark off the bed area so that you can see how the rest of the furnishings will fit in the room.

A single mattress size may be a great choice if you are single and have a smaller sized bedroom. This may not suit if you have a partner, however. Take your partner with you to the store to determine the size that accommodates both of you. A smaller mattress may seem romantic and cozy, but it will quickly become uncomfortable if you don’t have adequate room to stretch out during sleep.
