Sleep deprivation is responsible for more health conditions than many people might realize. The cost to your health of not getting a good night’s sleep may be much higher than you can imagine. If you are constantly plagued by aches and pains in the morning and feel less energetic during the day, the problem may be with your mattress and bedding and not your health.
Your sleep environment should be evaluated once a year to determine if you are getting the most out of your mattress and bedding. Lie on the bed during the day to see if you can find a comfortable position easily. If you have to spend a few minutes finding the right position, chances are that you are doing this in your sleep. This leads to a less than quality night’s sleep.
The pillows and blankets are just as important as the mattress when it comes to your sleep. The comforter or blanket provides much more than just warmth. While you should have sufficient blankets to keep you warm, the weight also helps to calm you and ready you for sleep. Weighted blankets are used on agitated patients for a reason.
Finally, your pillows should be able to retain their shape after being folded in half. If they do not spring back to life, it is time to replace them. The pillows will need to be replaced more often than a mattress. Get rid of that old mattress, pillows and blankets and create the perfect environment for sleep. It is a lot more important for getting through your busy day than you might think.
