Air Mattress Guide
Browsing through stores and on the internet, you may find yourself confused by the different range of air mattresses on the market. This confusion often causes people to have difficulty finding an air mattress that will work for them. There are several things that you should take into consideration when looking at air mattresses which can help you to narrow down this decision.
What is an Air Mattress?
Anytime you are purchasing something it is important to understand what that item is and how it relates to what you are looking for. Air mattresses are made from either plastic or rubber, depending on the brand and they are often referred to as inflatable mattresses. These mattresses are often used as extra beds and temporary sleeping places for guests.
Air Mattresses as Temporary Beds
If you are someone who is looking to use air mattresses as temporary beds for visitors in your home, then one of the first things that you need to do is to decide on a size. For example, there are standard air mattresses and double mattresses. The standard mattress sits about six to ten inches off the ground when fully inflated while the double mattress can sit as high as twenty inches if necessary.
Then there is also the issue of knowing whether you would want to use a small twin size bed or a large kind sized bed. This may depend on your personal usage and the kind of visitors that you routinely have. If you have a need to make sure that the air mattress can sleep at least three people then you should probably look into getting a larger, king size bed. However, if you only have one or two visitors at a time, the full or queen sized air mattresses should work fine for you.
Air Pumps
Another thing to consider when you are looking at air mattresses is the type of air pumps that you will be using to air up the mattress. This can be important because many times people do not like to use those mattresses with the small external pumps. These can be hard to use and it can sometimes take a long time before you are able to use the bed. Not to mention the fact that some of these air pumps are noisy, so if you are trying to air up the mattress while others are sleeping it can be tricky.
There are air mattresses available with an inboard air pump. This means that you can simply roll out the mattress, press a button and it will air up the mattress in a matter of moments. These air mattresses are often more expensive, but if you take into consideration that you don’t have to also buy an air pump, then the cost evens itself out.
Built in Pillows
Another difference in the types of air mattresses available is that some of them also come with built in pillows. This is perfect for those who like to take their air mattresses camping, as it means that you do not have to travel with a pillow as well. This can cut down on the number of items that you have to carry and keep clean. If this is an air mattress being used for guests exclusively then you may not want to have the pillow model as most would rather sleep on a traditional pillow if given a choice.
Once you go through all of these options and narrow down your list of options, you will be able to find the air mattress that will work for you.
